Informatics Study Program Holds a Focus Group Discussion on Curriculum Alignment with the World of Work

The Informatics Study Program held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the theme “Suitability of the Curriculum to the Needs of the World of Work” on November 7, 2025. The activity, which was held online from 09.00–11.00 WIB, aimed to obtain input regarding graduate competencies that are relevant to industrial developments, as well as being a strategic step in the preparation of the curriculum for the 2026–2027 academic year. The FGD was attended by industry partners, alumni, as well as lecturers and the curriculum team of the Informatics Study Program.


During the event, the partners conveyed the competency requirements for Informatics graduates, encompassing both hard and soft skills. Competencies considered essential include critical thinking, problem-solving skills, initiative, communication, time management, and leadership. Graduates are also expected to possess an entrepreneurial mindset, as not all graduates will pursue careers as programmers. On the technical side, input provided included the need for mastery of technologies such as Golang, cloud computing, NodeJS, data processing, data warehousing, cybersecurity, and an understanding of digital marketing.

The FGD also discussed curriculum component updates, including plans to strengthen IT Security and Automata courses. Suggestions for learning activities were also presented, such as implementing integrated workshops for each course, introducing specializations early, and strengthening Impactful Internship activities to support students’ career readiness in the industry.

Through this activity, the Informatics Study Program received constructive feedback from stakeholders as a guide for curriculum refinement, ensuring it remains adaptive and relevant to the needs of the workplace. The event concluded with an explanation of the governance of the Impactful Internship Program, with the hope that the new curriculum development will produce competitive graduates capable of optimally contributing to various technology sectors.
